Sophie Calle, “The Sleepers”, 1979
Presenting such artists as Sophie Calle, Andy Warhol, Felix Gonzales Torres and Annette Messager, the exhibition “Insomnia” is an event you shouldn’t miss.
This exhibition, curated by Marie Shek, explores questions surrounding night, dreams and sleep. The climax of this event is the hypnotizing piece by the Japanese artist Hiraki Sawa.
His work, “Going Places, Sitting Down” (2004) is a video in the form of a triptych. The artist’s poetic work successfully manages to transport us to another realm which recalls a childhood dream.
Other great works from the exhibition:
Michal Heiman, “Self-Portrait with Mattress”, 1978
Andy Warhol’s first film “Sleep” from 1963 is presented alongside the exhibition as a special project. In this experimental work, Warhol documents for over 5 hours his lover of the time, John Giorno sleeping.
Have a good night or good day wherever your are!
