Meet Ian Sternthal, a super creative and ambitious publisher, artist, writer and entrepreneur with a soft spot for Art, books and Israel.
Ian started his publishing house “Sternthal Books” a couple of years ago, after realizing he wanted to be able to publish his own books but also offer a platform for artists to show their work to a wider and often more “specialized” public.
Ian has already published five books, all on Israeli artists (although this is not the main focus of the company), and is also distributing other non-mainstream books.
“Sternthal Books” consists of four fields of creation: a publishing house, a digital journal focused on arts and politics, an online store and a gallery which organises temporary art projects all around the globe.
Ian is presenting his books (until May 14th) at the pop up store located at Rothschild 69’s project space. The pop up idea is an initiative of Vered Gadish and Miri Ginzburg Alony who will host different pop up concept stores during the upcoming weeks at this location.
At the venue, the books lie on wooden pallets, tempting the visitor to just open them and discover fascinating artistic worlds.
These include:
Jennifer Abessira’s “Elastique”, a beautiful zine with images of her works.

Ian is currently working on upcoming books for Adrianna Varella and Ife Niklaus, Weronica Trajonska, Keren Benbenisty, and Hagar Cygler (whose book you can help funding via headstart)
There is something magical about publishing a book and it was therefore truly special to hear Ian talk about being involved in the entire process of creation. From curating, writing, editing, publishing and promoting the artist’s book.
